Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party PDP Chairman Desmond Akawo has resigned.

Mr Akawor’s resignation came after he was appointed as a federal commissioner representing the state on the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Finance Commission (RMAFC).

His resignation was contained in a letter addressed to the Acting PDP National Chairman, Mr. Umar Damagum.

Mr Akawole expressed gratitude to the PDP and President Bola Tinubu for his appointment for giving him the opportunity to lead the party.

The letter is partially written. “After consulting with my mentors and family, I accepted the opportunity to serve this country, believing it to be national service.

“As a result, I have resigned from my position as the Rivers State Party Chairman of our great political party, the PDP, and have handed over all duties to my deputy, Prime Minister John Johnson, with immediate effect.” It was started by Aaron Chukwuemeka.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to steer the ship of our great party, the PDP, at the state level from 2020 to 2023, especially for your support during my term and the national institutions. Thank you for your support.”
