Reverse crisis: “Ihie resigns for peace” – Hubala speaks amid Wike rift

Governor Simu Hubala of Rivers State has explained why Edison Ehie has resigned as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He disclosed this while addressing dignitaries including former Governor Peter Odili and his wife Mary in Port Harcourt.

Hubara said: “So, whatever the outcome, as seen in yesterday's decision, most of you were concerned about why the Speaker would resign. It's about telling us what we can do for peace. .

“It's not about what we want to get. It's not about the power we want to wield. But at the end of the day, think about what we can leave for our people.”

Mr Ehie, who is loyal to Mr Hubala, resigned as a lawmaker and speaker of the state House of Assembly amidst a crisis between the state governor and Federal Capital Territory FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Mr. Ehie's resignation was dated December 29, 2023 and was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
