Protecting NNPP chief from attack – Oguntoyinbo speaks to security officials
Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has called on security agencies to protect party leaders from attacks.
Mr. Oguntoyinbo ordered the police, the Department of State Security (DSS) and other security agencies to protect NNPP leaders after their lives were allegedly threatened.
The NNPP leader said this in a statement on Saturday.
Mr. Oguntoyinbo, in a statement made available to DAILY POST, said there were reports that the lives and properties of some party leaders were being threatened.
He called on security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure those planning attacks on NNPP chiefs are arrested before they do so.
Mr. Oguntoyinbo said the party is a peace-loving party, adding that its members do not and will not engage in violence.
He warned that the lives and property of party members should not be put at risk.
He said: “As the party thrives on the support of Nigerians, we are appealing to security agencies to please protect our leaders as their lives and properties are being threatened across the country.” said.
“With what happened in the Court of Appeal where Kano State Governor Aba Yusuf received a falsified judgment and the fact that our opponents clearly see us winning in the Supreme Court, they are Threatening claims’ to lives and our property.
“According to information received by the Party, there is a plan to attack the National Secretariat of our Party by some people under the name of an ‘unidentified armed group,’ and at the same time, a member of the party’s leadership section has been designated for exclusion.
“Security agencies should come to our aid. I urge all our leaders and members across the country and most importantly in Kano State to remain calm but remain vigilant and watch out for attacks.” NNPP is a peace-loving party. We do not and will not engage in violence. But our lives and property should not be at risk.”
