Police fire tear gas at protesters at Abuja stadium

Security agents dispersed protesters demonstrating in front of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday.

A high court in Abuja issued an order on Wednesday, July 31, restricting protesters to the stadium.

Police and protesters have been at odds over their interpretation of the order. While police insist that protesters enter the stadium for their protest, protesters insist that they must converge and demonstrate in front of the stadium.

Angered by their disobedience, security personnel fired tear gas at them this afternoon, forcing the protesters to run to safety.
