Police confirm kidnapping incident near Port Harcourt Airport, investigation begins


The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that there was an attack on road users along Port Harcourt International Airport Road, Omuagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area of ​​the state, in which some commuters were abducted.

Command spokesperson Grace Ilinji Koko told reporters that three people were involved in the ugly incident, contrary to reports that eight people were kidnapped in the attack.

SP Iringekoko disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, had ordered the tactical team commander and the divisional police officer in charge of the area to ensure adequate security measures and ensure the arrest of the criminals.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have reportedly kidnapped about eight people around the Port Harcourt International Airport roundabout in Omuagwa, Rivers State.

Information was gathered that the perpetrators had blocked the left side of the road several kilometers from the airport.

According to reports, all the victims had moved from the airport axis to Obiri Ikwerre area before being attacked by the bandits.

DAILY POST also learned that more than 10 vehicles were involved and those who could not flee the scene were abducted.

Emmanuel Viira, one of the kidnapping victims, said three people were taken from the car and one was shot in the head before being taken away.
