Police arrest two people on suspicion of murder in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects on suspicion of manslaughter in various parts of the state.

Spokesman of the military command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement in Kano on Thursday.

He said one Chidera Ugwu was arrested in Tofa Local Government Area for allegedly killing a pregnant woman by administering an incorrect injection while attempting to abort her fetus.

He said on December 20, 2023, from one Nula Balarabe in Tofa LGA, one Ukasha Muhammad of Wrangeru village in Tofa LGA, to his sister Amina Bala in Kwanalu Mafuwa Tofa local government area of ​​Kano. He explained that he had received a report that he had impregnated her.

“The said Ukasha Muhammad conspired with Chidera Ugwu of Lambum Banki Tofa LGA to administer injections and drugs to Amina Balarabe with the intention of causing a miscarriage, as a result of which she died.”

“The suspects were arrested and confessed to the crime. Investigation revealed that Chidera Ugwu is suspected of administering a lethal injection to a pregnant woman with tragic consequences.

He added: “The arrest of the fake doctor marks an important step forward in our continued efforts to protect the lives and welfare of our state's residents.”
