Police arrest two people for allegedly beating a man to death on suspicion of theft in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly beating a man to death for allegedly stealing a car door.

State Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Fundain made this known in a statement on Sunday.

Hundain said the arrest was made after the widow of the deceased reported the incident to Ipponri police station.

He said the woman reported that on Thursday, she received a call that someone was beating her husband while she was at home.

“In the report, she said they were beating her husband because he allegedly stole two car doors.

“When she arrived at the scene, she reported that her husband was found in a pool of blood and the attackers took him away on a tricycle.

“She further stated that she later heard that her husband had died on the way to the hospital and that his body had been abandoned in a tricycle,” Hundain said.

He explained that police officers from Ipponri Police Station mobilized detectives, arrested two suspects, and recovered the victim's body.

A 33-year-old man and a 34-year-old man were arrested.

“The body has been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for autopsy while investigations are ongoing,” Hundain said.
