Police arrest robbery suspect who raped Ogun National College of Technology student, recover gun
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers involved in the rape of some technical college students last week.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamuthu, on Tuesday, through a statement signed by the spokesperson of the Police Service, SP Omolola Odutola, said the Police Service will not rest until the state is rid of criminals.
The police chief said the arrest was “a significant breakthrough in the apprehension of the suspected armed robber who attacked and robbed students around Oderemo and Ipara areas of Ogun State.”
It would be recalled that last week, unidentified gunmen invaded Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade Isara, Ode Remo, raped students and took away their belongings.
Police said the suspects initially denied it, but the victim of the last robbery identified him as one of the group of three youths terrorizing Gateway Technical College.
“Following the recent shooting incident at Gateway Technical College, a proactive operation was conducted based on information.
“On 27 November 2023, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a stop and search operation in the Ode Remo and Ipara areas. During the operation, three suspected armed youths were captured on a motorbike. .
“The suspects resorted to violent means to try to evade arrest, but were eventually apprehended.
“The arrested suspects are profiled as Taiwo Oredoyin “M” (27 years old), Taiwo Kuti “M” (35 years old) and Folorunsho Saheed “M” (36 years old), all from Isara, Ogun State. Belongs to the town. . “The police searched them and found them in possession of a locally made handgun with two live rounds and two Samsung mobile phones,” the statement read in part.
DAILY POST reported that the suspects are being interrogated as part of a preliminary investigation and will be transferred to the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation before being arraigned in court.
