Police arrest cult suspect in Delta, recover handgun
Members of the District Anti-Crime Patrol Team in Umunede, Delta State have arrested a suspected cultist, Francis Sunday.
Police also recovered a locally made cut-to-size handgun from the suspect.
The suspect is currently cooling his heels in the police net, DAILY POST reports.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
He said: “On November 23, 2023, at around 14:00 a.m., one Francisco Sunday, a man (name withheld) went to the station during an ongoing argument between him and his brother at a residence in the Umunede community. The Umunede community, who were present at the time of the altercation, were ordered to leave.”
According to DSP Edafe, “Francisco Sunday became extremely hostile, pulled out a locally manufactured cut-to-size handgun and threatened to kill anyone who tried to force him out of his residence.” About.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, operatives sprang into action and on November 24, 2023, at around 12:30 pm, operatives of the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol Team raided the complainant’s residence at 7 Old Agbor Road, Umunede. The suspect was arrested.
“Preliminary investigation led operatives to search his residence in Mbiri Community Umunede where one locally made cut-out pistol was recovered. The suspect and the exhibits have been taken into custody. An investigation has been launched.”
