Police arrest armed robbery suspects who invaded the Ogum community and raped polytechnic students
“The Ogun State Police Command has made significant progress in apprehending suspected armed robbers and recovering firearms and ammunition from three armed men, who invaded Ode Remo and Ipara, raping female students and continued to terrorize the institution tertiary in that area”, said the statement read.
“The suspects initially denied it, but a victim of their latest robbery operation identified one of the gang of three youths terrorizing Gateway Polytechnic.
“Following a security summit organized by the Commissioner of Police, CP ALAMUTU ABIODUN MUSTAPHA psc, in response to the recent shooting incidents at Gateway Polytechnic, a proactive intelligence-based operation was conducted.
“On 27 November 2023, the Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, implemented a stop and search operation in the Ode Remo and Ipara area.
“During the operation, a gang of three young men suspected of being armed was intercepted on a motorcycle. The suspects tried to escape arrest by resorting to violent means to escape, but ended up being detained.
“The arrested suspects were identified as Taiwo Oredoyin ‘M’ (27 years old), Taiwo Kuti ‘M’ (35 years old) and Folorunsho Saheed ‘M’ (36 years old), all belonging to Isara town, Ogun State. Conducting a search of them, the police discovered in their possession a locally made pistol with two loaded cartridges, as well as two Samsung phones.
“The detained suspects are currently being questioned as part of the preliminary investigation. Upon completion of this phase, they will be transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigations for further and discreet investigation.”
