Police arrest 15 suspects and recover 20 stolen vehicles in Kano

The Kano State Police Command on Tuesday announced the arrest of 15 suspects and the recovery of 20 stolen vehicles across the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson in Kano.

He said the arrest and recovery of the stolen vehicles were a result of the command's efforts to eradicate all forms of crime in the state.

“We are fully committed to combating motor vehicle theft cases and all forms of criminal activity in the supervisory field,” Kiyawa said.

“Over the past one month, the Police Command has consistently demonstrated its determination to ensure protection of life and property of all residents of the state.

“This is IG Egbetokun’s directive and vision for all police commands and organizations to implement community-based policing, intelligence-led policing and the demonstration of professional competence for effective service delivery. It’s something to promote.”

“The state police have now focused their efforts on combating and nipping the problem of auto theft in the state.

“We launched a series of enforcement operations and arrested 15 suspected car thieves and recovered 20 display vehicles,” he said.

Police Commissioner Usaini Gumel thanked the public for their understanding, cooperation and support, and reiterated the police's determination to remain on the ground.

He also urged everyone to report any suspicious movements, people or items to the nearest police station and take immediate security action.
