Police arrest 132 armed robbery suspects in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 132 suspects in various parts of the state on suspicion of kidnapping, armed robbery and illegal drug trafficking in the past two months.
The state police commissioner, Hussaini Gumel, disclosed this in Kano on Friday, saying the command also arrested car, motorcycle and three-wheeler thieves, suspected human traffickers and fraudsters during the period. Ta.
Mr. Gumel also disclosed that during this period, the command rescued four kidnap victims and two human trafficking victims and recovered goods and items.
The recovered items include two AK-47 rifles, one domestic pump-action rifle and four live rounds.
“From January till now, we have arrested 65 suspected thugs (Yandaba), 22 suspected thieves, 25 suspected drug peddlers, 11 suspected kidnappers, Nine suspects were arrested.
He added that from January 1 till date, all forms of serious crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, motor vehicle theft, drug dealing and assault have significantly decreased across the state.
“The threat of armed robberies using mobile phones day and night is now a thing of the past and not a single one has been recorded in the past two months.”
Gumel further said that the command was able to destroy and dismantle a transnational car thief syndicate by arresting and recovering a large number of vehicles.
