Plateau killings: “We need permanent solutions, not mitigation” – Senator Dickett Plan

Senator Dickett Plan (APC, Plateau) said the people of Plateau want permanent solutions “not temporary palliatives” to the security challenges plaguing the nation.

Diketo told reporters in Jos on Wednesday that a permanent solution would save hundreds of lives and bring an end to the bloodshed that has turned the North-Central state into a disaster.

He suggested that military bases should be established at identified flashpoints to ward off bandits.

He said: “I introduced a motion in Parliament to ensure that Plateau enjoys lasting peace, rather than such a reactionary approach. , resolved that a permanent solution to the insecurity should be developed.

“Instead of rushing to the military when bandits come, we should fence the entry points used by criminals in Barkin Ladi and Bochkos. There are also entry and exit points used by criminals in Mangu, Gindiri and Bauchi. Yes, if all locations are secure, criminals cannot easily enter or escape.”
