PDP governors publicly support the judiciary, despite their colleagues being fired by the courts

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum publicly supported the judiciary, despite its colleagues being dismissed by the courts.

Addressing the media at a meeting in Abuja on Thursday, November 23, the Governors described the two decisions of the court of appeal, dismissing two of its members last week, as “temporary setbacks”. They also expressed hope that the Supreme Court will do justice to the dismissal of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and his Zamfara State counterpart, Governor Dauda Lawal by the appeal court.

In a statement issued at the end of their deliberations, the opposition governors stated;

“The meeting reviewed the recent Court of Appeal rulings relating to the Governors of various States and recorded mixed results.

“As a Forum, we once again reaffirm our general confidence in the judiciary to deliver justice. We believe that the Supreme Court will do justice in cases where we have recorded temporary setbacks like Zamfara and Plateau States.”

In the off-season elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states, PDP governors “support INEC’s decision to investigate the allegation of existence of pre-filled result sheets even before the start of elections in some places to ensure confidence of the people in the electoral process”.
