The Operation Safe Haven Squad (OPSH), which maintains peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states, has arrested 271 suspects who have committed various crimes within its area of responsibility.
The Deputy Commander of OPSH, DCP Terzungwe Iera, on Friday presented the suspect and the recovered weapons to newsmen in Jos.
He said soldiers in the operation also recovered 1,161 pieces of ammunition and rescued 79 kidnapped victims during the survey period.
He explained that the suspects were arrested for crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery and robbery.
“79 civilians were rescued from kidnappers and armed robbers and a total of 100 weapons of different calibers and 1,161 pieces of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
“The military also neutralized 13 armed criminals and arrested 271 suspects on charges related to kidnapping, armed robbery, shooting, robbery, farm destruction, vandalism and various other crimes.” he said.
Iera pointed out that the court had indicted 33 suspects, dismantled two arms manufacturing factories and recovered 554 cattle from thieves.
He reiterated the efforts of the OPSH forces towards ensuring security of lives and property in the state.
