A father of four, Lukman Soladoye, on Tuesday, November 21, appeared in a Shari’a court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna for beating his wife, Kemi Soladoye and their four children.
Mr. Soladoye said he beats his wife and children to correct them when they do something wrong, adding that he loves his family and wants the best for them.
Earlier, the complainant told BA Tanko through her advice that she wanted a divorce because of the constant assault, but later she changed her mind and settled down with her husband.
He pleaded with the court to restrain the accused from physically abusing himself and his children.
The judge, Isiyaku Abdulrahman asked the defendant if he promised to stop beating his wife and children and the defendant said he would stop beating his wife and not the children.
“If your wife has sinned against you in any way, tell her and rebuke her; You are not supposed to beat your wife, the judge warned.
“Beating your children is not the only way to correct a child; Always show love and affection towards your children, pray for them and advise them.
The judge said: The judge in court continues to monitor the behavior of the defendant, and to tell the plaintiff to the court if the defendant attacks her again.
