Ondo crisis: Tinubu intervenes as parliament moves towards appointment of Acting Governor Ayedatiwa

President Bola Tinubu has embarked on a crisis rocking Ondo State over the continued absence of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and plans to impeach Deputy Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa.

DAILY POST reported that Tinubu is scheduled to meet with political players in the state on how to resolve the political impasse that is affecting governance in the state.

After the meeting, it was agreed that Aiyedatiwa could be appointed as acting governor.

The meeting with Mr. Tinubu, to be held in Abuja from 2pm on Friday, will be attended by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Olamide Olaziji, key officers of the state House of Assembly, three senators of the state and the Chairman of the All Progressives Party. State House of Assembly, Ade Adetihin;

Confirming the meeting, the Congress president said: “The only information I can give you right now is that myself, the principal officers of the Congress, the APC state chairman, the APC national chairman and three senators. ” he said. The lawmaker representing Ondo State in the National Assembly is scheduled to meet with the President by 2pm today (Friday). ”

The findings also revealed that 11 of the 26 members of parliament are aligned with Mr Ayedatiwa’s camp, with the aim of ensuring that the deputy governor assumes the role of acting governor.

One lawmaker, who requested anonymity, said it took outside influence from outside the state to convince the 11 to take this position.
