Sheriff Obolewori of Delta State on Saturday commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their efforts and fight against oil theft and other crimes in the country.

The governor presented the awards to the 63rd Brigade Headquarters and 181st Amphibious Battalion at the 2023 West African Social Action Alliance (WASA) at their new barracks in Agbor, Arifikede, Ica South Local Government Area of ​​the state.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Riverways), Mr. Charles Aniagu, the Governor said the efforts of the military and other sister security agencies have sustained peace, tremendous growth in infrastructure and unity across the state. He said it was helpful.

He said the success story of the Obolewori government could not be told without the cooperation of the military, police and other sister security agencies.

“It is my pleasure to be among you today as the special guest of honor for the 63rd Brigade Headquarters and 181st Amphibious Battalion’s 2023 Integrated West Africa Social Action.

“The WASA tradition dates back to the days of the Royal West African Frontier Army, when troops and their families would gather at the end of the year to socialize and celebrate the achievements of their formations and units.

“I am proud to say with confidence that the officers and men of Headquarters 63rd Brigade and 181st Amphibious Battalion, as well as their families, have held themselves accountable in the true spirit of WASA,” he said. Ta.

He added that 2023 was an eventful year marked by challenges and successes.

“What is noteworthy is the gallant performance and sacrifices of our personnel in the fight against oil theft, various crimes, the 2023 general elections and the success of other operations and missions.

“I therefore commend the sacrifices made by all of you to ensure lasting peace across the state and must express my sincere gratitude to the 63rd Brigade Commander and his wonderful team for this. not.”

He assured the military of the continued support of the state government while urging officers and men to remain loyal and dedicated to their duties.

He paid special tribute to the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price to keep the country safe and united.
