Number of NIN registrants reaches 104.16 million – NIMC

The federal government has announced that the number of people registered with national identification numbers has increased to 104.16 million by the end of 2023.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has revealed this in its latest NIN registration data.

Recent data shows that there will be 10.3 million NIN registrants in 2023, compared to a total of 94.03 million registrants in December 2022.

Regarding the gender distribution of registrants, NIMC data reveals that 59.12 million, or 56.8 per cent, of Nigerians registered in the NIN database so far are male. In contrast, her 45.04 million, or 43.2 percent of total enrollment, are women.

This development comes in the face of the latest subscriber identity module (SIM) and NIN collaboration deadline of February 28, 2024 announced by mobile network operators.

However, current data on the number of NIN registrants shows that Nigeria is far from the World Bank's target of 148 million people by June 2024.
