NPFL: Sunshine Stars lose to Taiwo Dosunmu

Taiwo Dosunmu, assistant kit manager of Sunshine Stars of Akure, passes away.

Sunshine Stars Media Director Michael Akintunde made the announcement in a statement in Akure on Saturday.

Dosunmu died in the intensive care unit of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, the statement said.

Recall that earlier this month, Dosunmu was shot dead during an attack on a Sunshine Stars bus by armed men along the Benin-Ore Expressway.

The Sunshine Stars were on their way to Benin City to celebrate their match against Bendel Insurance in Round 13 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on December 7 when the sad incident occurred.

“With much pain in our hearts, we mourn our dear brother and Assistant Kit Manager, Taiwo, who was killed in the line of fire by armed robbers along the Benin-Ore Expressway on Thursday, December 1st. “We are announcing Dosunmu's untimely transition into eternity. 7,” the statement reads in part.

“Taiwo Dosunmu was a very hardworking person and took his work very seriously.”
