The Nigeria Premier Football League Board (NPFL) has suspended Abia Warriors following inappropriate conduct by some officials during their home game against Rangers at Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday. A fine of 4 million Nira was imposed.
Officials prevented Rangers from entering the pitch before the match, leading to violent scenes that could have brought the match into disrepute.
Abia Warriors were accused of failing to provide adequate security at the stadium.
Club officials also harassed the media crew of the NPFL’s official broadcast partner.
Umuahia Club has been ordered to identify and hand over those involved in the misconduct for further sanctions.
They have been warned that if similar misconduct occurs again, more severe sanctions will be imposed.
They can appeal the sanctions within 48 hours.
