The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued practice instructions reminding clubs of the existing protocols regarding post-match media interaction by technical officers.

NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi drew this attention in a memo sent to clubs on Friday.

Mr. Oumi said strict adherence to the guidelines is essential to develop and structure the NPFL in line with international practices.

The memo also touched on the need for civility in the conduct of media and coaches, noting that “aside from mandatory participation, civility is always expected of coaches and journalists.”

The memo also recommended clubs provide professional guidance to coaches when dealing with the media after games.

“Clubs are requested to groom their coaches in an appropriate manner at media events such as this to avoid the reputation of the league being tarnished due to the coach's unruly conduct,” Oumi said in the memo. ” he said.

“Regulation C9 requires clubs to ensure the proper conduct of players and officials at all times during matches.”
