NNL calls for corporate sponsorship

NNL manager calls for community ownership of football clubs

Nigeria National League, NNL, Chairman George Aluo has called for community ownership of football clubs in the country.

Aluo said it was time for the government to relinquish control of football operations in the country.

He believed that clubs were best managed by individuals and the community as a whole.

Aluo made this known during his birthday celebration on Friday.

“It is unfortunate that the government still controls professional soccer clubs in this country, and soccer in our country will never grow if the clubs are owned by the government,” he said.

“All we need to do and encourage is local clubs and private ownership of clubs and things will start to change.

“If you look at Remo Stars, which is privately owned, you will see that this club is successfully run without government subsidies.”
