NLTF disburses capital appropriations for intervention projects – CPTA

The Center for Peace, Transparency and Accountability (CPTA) says the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) is spending a larger proportion of its capital allocation on construction and other intervention projects.

CPTA Director-General Patrick Oghenyero disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday, refuting allegations of misappropriation of funds by the NLTF.

The House Finance Committee argued that the NLTF could not justify the expenditure of internal revenue in 2022, adding that the NLTF disbursed the funds without budgetary approval.

Debunking this allegation, the CPTA said there is no single piece of evidence to prove that the NLTF committed any act of embezzlement while carrying out its stated duties.

According to the CPTA, the NLTF’s actions are in line with the provisions of the law that established the agency as the supervisory and revenue-generating agency for Nigeria’s gaming industry.
