NiMET issues warning to asthma patients and airlines

The Nigeria Meteorological Agency urged people suffering from asthma and respiratory illnesses to be careful.
The warning of impending foggy and cloudy weather also applies to airlines.
The NIMET report also predicts sunny to cloudy weather in the northern and north-central provinces of the country from Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
“Persons with asthma or other respiratory illnesses are advised to be aware of weather conditions,” the report said.
“Airlines are advised to obtain the latest weather information from NiMet for effective planning of their operations.”
NiMet also warned of cloudy and foggy weather and that isolated thunderstorms are unlikely to occur in coastal areas of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers states during the afternoon and evening.
It also detailed on Thursday that “a hazy atmosphere is expected in the northern and north-central regions during the forecast period.” Few hazy clouds are expected in the southern interior and coastal cities, with isolated thunderstorms expected in parts of Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states during the afternoon and evening. ”
For Friday, “sunny and hazy conditions are expected in the northern and north-central regions during the forecast period. Very few hazy clouds will be seen in the inland, southern, and coastal areas, with eddy conditions expected in the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms are likely to occur in parts of the state, Bayelsa and Delta states.”
