Nigeria's weather forecast is cloudy and sunny
The Nigeria Meteorological Agency has predicted cloudy to sunny skies across the country from Saturday to Monday.
The weather forecast issued by NiMet in Abuja on Friday predicted moderate dust to occur on Saturday, with horizontal visibility of 2 km and 5 km in the northern region during the forecast period.
The newspaper said: “Clear skies with a hazy atmosphere are expected for cities in the central north and inland cities in the south. Partly cloudy skies and a hazy atmosphere are possible over the country's coastal regions. It was expected.”
The forecast also predicted the possibility of localized thunderstorms in parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states later in the day.
The report states that clear skies with a cloudy atmosphere are expected over southern inland cities during the forecast period, and furthermore, clouds will appear with a hazy atmosphere over coastal cities throughout the forecast period. He added that this is expected.
As for Monday, moderate dust clouds with horizontal visibility of between 2km and 5km are expected in inland cities in the north, north-central and south during the forecast period, it said.
The agency said while few clouds are expected to form in the hazy atmosphere over the coastal city during the forecast period, it urged the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles remain suspended.
It also urged people with asthma and other respiratory diseases to be aware of the current weather conditions, and advised airlines to obtain the latest weather information from NiMet in order to plan their operations effectively.
