NFF President promises to introduce VAR in the local league

Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has promised to introduce Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Speaking at the first NPFL administration and employees retreat in Abuja, Gusau stated the federation would start the means of implementing VAR in the local league by sending sure referees to observe and be taught from different nations which have already applied the system.

He stated;

“I can guarantee that VAR will be effectively utilized in our national football before the end of my first term as president of the Nigeria Football Federation in 2026. It will be gradual, but we will certainly get there.”
