Netherlands: Akpom’s heading ability is highly praised

Ajax winger Steven Berghaus has praised clubmate Chuba Akpom’s impressive heading ability.

Akpom joined the Eredivisie giants from Sky Bet Championship club Middlesbrough in the summer.

After a slow start, the Nigerian-born striker has established himself well at the club.

The 27-year-old scored in Ajax’s 5-0 win over Vitesse Arnhem at the Johan Cruyff Arena last weekend.

Akpom got the nod for his team’s fourth goal of the game.

This was his fifth goal in the same match for Ajax.

“With the departure of Edson Alvarez, Lisandro Martinez and Sebastian Haller, we lost a lot of heading power,” Beghuis told ESPN.

“Today we basically only have the smart Chuba Akpom.”
