Nasarawa: Police tighten security ahead of Easter celebrations


The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the deployment of over 2,000 operatives across the state in preparation for Easter this year.

According to a press release signed by the command's spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nanser, the move is aimed at ensuring smooth and peaceful celebrations of Christians in the state.

Working with Christians, Police Commissioner Umar Shehu Nadadai said the deployed personnel would be placed in various locations, including places of worship, recreation centers, and public and private facilities.

Part of the statement reads: “Following this, the Nasarawa State Police Command has deployed over 2,000 police personnel across the state for crime prevention and control to ensure a safe celebration.

“This covers places of worship, recreation centers, public and private facilities.

“Surveillance/intelligence gathering and continuous raids of criminal hideouts, hot spots/vulnerable points, and high-visibility security will continue throughout the period to ensure safety of lives and property.”

The statement also called on the public to co-operate with law enforcement personnel who have been instructed to act politely, courteously and firmly to ensure the safety and security of travelers and other road users during the public holiday period. Ta.

The CP also reaffirmed the command's commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property during Easter and beyond.
