Nasarawa: Police confirm abduction of Akwanga LG Chairman

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed that the chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of ​​the state, Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, has been abducted by armed men.

The state PPRO Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nanser, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson said they received information that the chairman and one other person had been abducted from Ningo village in Akwanga LGA at around 8:30 p.m.

He also said that the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, mobilized personnel to trace the hoodlums and safely rescue the abducted chairman and another person.

“Police are currently working with other security agencies to trace the kidnappers to ensure the release of the council president and the other victim,” he said.

Mr. Nansel therefore appealed to the public, especially those in villages in the area, to provide the police with any useful information that could lead to the rescue of the abductees and the arrest of the perpetrators.

Haruna Kassim, Special Adviser (SA) on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, and close aides of the LG president also confirmed the incident.

SA said the LG boss and one Adam Kasmut were abducted at around 8.30pm on Monday at Ningo village in Akwanga.
