“My father left us and came back to die at home.” – Terry Apala

Nigerian singer Terry Apala has told how his father abandoned him and his siblings along with their mother.

He said his father was never a part of his life, stressing that his father only returned 17 years after he left the family and died at home on the same day he visited.

The Apara crooner disclosed this in a candid interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.

He said, “My father wasn’t there (for me). He wasn’t there. He was just somewhere else, living his life. I had nothing to do with him.” there is no.

“I separated from my father in 1990, but the day I met him was the day he died. He came all the way from Apapa to Mushin’s house. He was strong and healthy. asked after my mother and I told him that my mother was not there. I called my mother and told her that my father was nearby and she asked me to leave. I told my father what my mother had said, but my father said he would wait until my mother came back. My other siblings had heard that he was nearby, so they stayed home that night. I couldn’t go home.

“So it was just me and my father and Obi, the last child. We slept together. He slept in the bed with my brother. When I woke up , I think he was throwing up. It was very emotional. I didn’t really feel bad just because this guy wasn’t there, but you know, it’s a shame when people die. So that was the last time I saw my father. From our house to the mortuary.

“I think he knew he was going to die because we hadn’t seen each other for about 15 to 17 years, and then all of a sudden he came to our house to rest and went straight to the mortuary. I was on my way.”
