Mr. Bala Mohammed submits N300.2b 2024 budget to Bauchi parliament

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday introduced the estimated budget for 2024 to the House of Assembly for scrutiny and passage, amounting to N300,219,705,820.

Mr. Mohammed stated he tagged the doc as a budget for the “Budget of Consolidation and New Focus.” The budget consisted of recurrent expenditure of N121,341,193,343.11 (40.4%) and complete capital expenditure of N178,878,512,477.49 (59.6%).

The state’s proposed 2024 budget is 48.2% greater than the 2023 budget. Mr. Mohammed attributed this to elevated income due to the elimination of subsidies and an upward development in inflation due to the depreciation of the native forex.

“This means an increase in the prices at which our projects and programs are implemented. The adoption of this conservative approach is to ensure that acquired projects and programs are properly budgeted.” he acknowledged.
