Military neutralizes 43 terrorists, arrests 115

The Defense Headquarters announced that over 43 terrorists have been neutralized and 115 others have been arrested by the military in various operations in the past week.

The Director of Defense Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

Buba said the military remains focused on operations against insurgents and other criminals across the country.

He said the military was carrying out targeted attacks to hunt down terrorists in their hiding places and destroy them.

He said the military had neutralized several terrorist leaders and their infantrymen, reducing their combat capabilities.

“During the week of focus, the military carried out ambushes, raids, combat patrols and other forms of attacks against terrorists. These offensive actions neutralized 43 terrorists and killed 115 was arrested.

“The troops recovered 87 weapons and 666 ammunition, including 11 AK-47 rifles, one FN rifle, two pump-action rifles and eight locally manufactured guns.

“11 Dane guns, 2 locally manufactured pistols, 1 Makarov pistol, 1 Beretta pistol, 1 manufactured SMG, 1 locally manufactured mortar with 1 blank bomb, 4 IEDs, 7.62 17 rounds of mm NATO ammunition and 592 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were also recovered.'' Special ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.5mm ammunition, 1 round of 9mm ammunition and 36 rounds of live ammunition.

“Other items include 18 empty 7.62mm special cases, 2 bandoliers, 13 magazines, 2 cars, 21 cell phones, 9 motorcycles, 15 bicycles, 2 tricycles, 5 Boafen HH radios, The total amount includes 1.6 million naira, etc.,” he said.
