Military finally reveals bomb attack on Kaduna community

The National Defense Headquarters said Sunday's drone attack on Ligarma community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State was based on intelligence regarding illicit activities of terrorists in the area.

This is contained in a statement from Maj. Gen. Johnson, Director of Defense Media Operations. Edward Buba in Abuja on Tuesday.

Buba said a Nigerian Army Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) detachment observed terrorist movements at around 10pm on Sunday in Ligarma, a known terrorist-prone area of Kaduna State.

He said aerial surveillance had captured the movements of a group of individuals synonymous with terrorist tactics and methods.

Mr. Buba explained that the advance of the assembled terrorists has been observed, posing a threat to key infrastructure within reach of their operations.

He said the threat was eliminated to prevent terrorists from terrorizing innocent civilians.

“It should be noted that terrorists often deliberately infiltrate civilian areas to help civilians endure the consequences of their atrocities.

“Nevertheless, the Nigerian military always does its best to differentiate between civilians and terrorists.

“The military considers any civilian death resulting from an operation to be a tragedy, and because such tragedies are unnecessary and undesirable, the military takes extensive steps to avoid them.” said.

The Nigerian military had denied any involvement in the unfortunate attack, which claimed the lives of more than 100 villagers.
