Military arrests 11 others suspected of murdering couple in Plateau

The Operation Safe Haven Squad (OPSH) of the Nigerian Army on Saturday arrested a suspect who murdered a couple in Kwi community in Riyom Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 3rd Division, Nigerian Army, Rukuba, Near Jos, Lt. Col.; Ishaq Taqwa disclosed this at a press conference in Jos.

Mr Takwa said the suspects were arrested on November 18 in the Tafawa community of Barkin Ladi due to the resilience and dedication of the troops.

Recall that on August 14, the suspects murdered a newlywed couple, Ruwan Danladi, 37, and his wife Sandra, 28.

The couple, who are teachers at BECO, were killed on that fateful day when gunmen attacked their school.

“You may recall that in August, armed men stormed BECO Comprehensive Secondary School in Kwi and killed a married couple who were teachers at the school,” Takwa said.

“We launched an investigation and arrested Lukman Aminu, who was wanted for a number of criminal offenses.

“He was arrested in Tafawa village in Barkin Ladi and later confessed to committing the crime.”

Taqwa also said the military was pursuing the remaining militants, adding that they would be brought to justice soon.
