Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy is set to sue the Premier League champions, claiming he is owed millions of pounds in unpaid wages.
Mendy plans to take City to an employment tribunal to recover what the French left-back believes were “unauthorized deductions from his wages” after he was charged with rape and sexual assault two years ago is.
The 29-year-old was acquitted of charges of rape and attempted rape and left City when his contract expired in June.
Citi allegedly stopped paying Mendy in September 2021 after he was first charged and detained.

In January, Mendy was acquitted of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, but a jury was unable to reach a verdict on two charges, leading to a retrial.

Mendy, who is said to have been paid around 100,000 pounds ($125,000) a week by City, is seeking back wages he is owed until his contract with the treble winner ends.
Mendy, a three-time Premier League winner with City, last played for Josep Guardiola’s side in 2021 and joined French club Lorient earlier this season.
