Man City's Foden named Premier League Player of the Season

Manchester City's Phil Foden has been named the Premier League's Player of the Year. Saturday's announcement means the 23-year-old England midfielder has achieved a double win at the award, having been named the Football Writers' Association of England's Player of the Year earlier this month.

Foden has scored a career-best 17 goals in the Premier League this season ahead of champions City's final league game of the season.

“Receiving this award is a very proud achievement for me,” Foden said. “The Premier League is recognized as the greatest league in the world and I am honored to have been nominated alongside so many other great players who have enjoyed a special season for their club.”

City will seal a record fourth successive English title if they beat West Ham at home on Sunday.

“Overall, I've been very happy with the way I've played this season and I'm really pleased with the goals and assists I've been able to contribute throughout the season,” Foden added.

“I would like to thank all the staff, coaches and especially my team-mates at City, because without them this would not be possible. I would also like to thank all the staff, coaches and especially my team-mates for voting for me as this award means so much to me. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone.”
