Man arrested on suspicion of stabbing father in Kano City

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, in Kano State has arrested a 25-year-old man, Alkassim Yaw, for allegedly stabbing his father to death in Tudun Yola ‘C’ area of Gwale Local Government Area of the state.
The NSCDC Corps Commander, Mr. Mohammed Falala, disclosed this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Kano.
He said the incident occurred at around 13:30 am on Friday at the Alhaji Salisu Bala residence.
“The late father, Alhaji Yau Mohammed, took his mentally ill son, Alkassim Yau, to Dawanau Psychiatric Hospital for treatment and scheduled a doctor’s appointment on Saturday, January 6th. '' he said.
He explained that instead of returning to Katsina, the deceased decided to sleep at his brother’s house at the same address.
“Our investigation revealed that Al-Qassim became mentally ill as a result of engaging in hard drug activity.
“On arrival at Tudung Yola, the sick son picked up a sharp object and injured his father, but with the intervention of the NSCDC personnel attached to the area, the victim was taken to the hospital and the suspect He was arrested,” he said.
He said the family was preparing to return the body to Katsina for the funeral, while the suspect and the exhibits were handed over to the Rijiyal Zaki Police Station for further investigation.
