Man arrested for murder of Eket businessman in Port Harcourt

Police in Akwa Ibom have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the murder of Eket-based businessman Juliana Dimaka.

Dimaka, the owner of Testimony Supermarket on Grace Bill Street in Eket, was allegedly strangled to death in his home at 8pm on October 17th.

A reliable source at the Eket Divisional Police Station, who requested anonymity, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket on Thursday.

Sources said detectives from the Akwa Ibom Command, which is investigating the murder, tracked the suspect to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he fled to evade arrest.

Officials said the suspect ended up at a friend’s apartment and hid there.

“We tracked the culprit to Port Harcourt in Rivers State, arrested him and brought him to Ikot Akpanbia in Uyo,” he said.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Makdon Odiko, said:

“It’s going to take some time and we’ve got a lot in the works right now, but if you have any information please send it to me so we can start investigating.”
