Lightning kills four in Nasarawa
Four people were killed by lightning in Nasarawa state, while others were said to be in critical condition.
The incident occurred at Nasarawa Garage in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, November 25, 2023.
An eyewitness, Aleeyou Mabudi, said the incident happened while he was repairing his car.
“I witnessed the most intense and frightening thunder a few minutes ago here in Nasarawa. I was at Nasarawa garage fixing a car when I suddenly heard a loud noise and a bright light. A lot of people actually ran without knowing what it was”, he narrated.
“Shortly after the thunderous event, a gathering formed under a tree where it was discovered that three individuals had tragically lost their lives to lightning. This is the first time I have seen something so terrifying in my entire life.”
Meanwhile, the member representing Nasarawa Central constituency and chairman of the Women’s Affairs and Social Development Committee, Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident in a statement, offered condolences to the families of the victims.
“We mourn the families of those who lost their lives and suffered varying degrees of injuries as a result of the thunder at Nasarawa Garage/Mechanical Workshop, Nasarawa Local Government. We pray that ALLAH grants those who lost their lives eternal rest and the families courage to bear this great loss.” the statement read.
