Leicester City sack manager Willie Kirk over alleged relationship with player

Leicester City Women's team has decided to terminate the contract of first-team manager Willie Kirk, citing a breach of the team's code of conduct as the reason for her dismissal.

The 45-year-old last appeared on the touchline on March 3 in her team's 4-0 Women's Super League defeat to Chelsea.

After the match, the club announced that Kirk was undergoing internal procedures and would not be managing the team in the FA Cup quarter-finals on March 9.

In Kirk's absence, assistant Jennifer Foster, along with first-team coach Stephen Kirby, led the team to a 2-0 victory in the FA Cup quarter-finals and has continued to lead the team ever since.

Kirk's departure comes amid allegations of an affair with one of his players, although the club have not released details of the allegations.

Leicester City confirmed Kirk's dismissal in a statement, saying an extensive internal disciplinary process had been carried out and it had been determined that Kirk had breached the team's code of conduct to such an extent that he could not continue in his position.

While the search for Kirk's replacement begins, Foster and Kirby will continue to manage the team until a new manager is appointed.
