Kwara PDP demands explanation from MPs on FG’s rice intervention


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has called on nine members of the Kwara State House of Assembly to speak out on the federal government’s intervention in rice for distribution to various constituencies in the state.

In a statement on Sunday, the State Public Relations Secretary of the PDP in Kwara State, Olusegun Olusola Adewala, said the party has taken up the viral video featuring Mr. Dekeli Anamero, a member of the House of Representatives representing Etsako Federal Constituency in Edo State. He emphasized that: Mr. Ahmed Tinubu provided each Member of Parliament with at least two trailers of rice for distribution to their respective constituencies.

Reacting to the above video, the party spokesperson questioned all Kwara State House of Representatives members asking them to speak out on the whereabouts of rice for people in their territories.

The concerned senators, who are all APC members, include Senator Salihu Mustapha of Kwara Central, Senator Oyelola Ashiru of Kwara South and Senator Suleiman Sadiq Umar of Kwara North.

Also, members of the House of Representatives include Raheem Tunji Olawi Ajlupin, Ismail Kayode Tijani, Ahmed Yinka Aluko, Mukta Tolani Shagaya, Adamu Ahmed Saba, and Mohamed Omar Bio, respectively. .

“The PDP in Kwara State has been patiently waiting for the responses of the APC members, but they have noted with concern that the silence is no longer golden.

“According to a video produced by His Highness Dekeli, each lawmaker is said to have received at least 2,400 bags of rice,” the statement added.

The Kwara PDP demanded an immediate explanation from the APC lawmaker and demanded transparency in explaining the federal government's rice intervention.

He said the party remains committed to upholding the principles of responsibility, integrity and service to the people.
