The Commission for the Defense of Human Rights (CDHR) has condemned in strong terms the killing of Toyin Bamidele, a Higher National Diploma student of the Department of Food Technology, Federal University of Technology, Offa, Kwara State.
According to a report by DAILY POST, Toyin was recently hacked to death at his home in Ofa.
A suspect was arrested by police in connection with this incident.
CDHR spokesperson Akintonde Diya, in a statement issued in Ilorin on Wednesday, described the act as “diabolical, barbaric, despicable and gruesome”.
According to the statement, “The taking of human life is uncalled for and unacceptable. The Kwara State Human Rights Protection Commission is therefore calling for an immediate investigation to unravel the situation and bring the culprits out.” .
“We therefore call on the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, and other security support agencies to take urgent action and bring out the perpetrators of this evil act from their hideouts.
“We appeal to the students of the Federal Institute of Technology of Offa to remain calm and remain steadfast in their commitment to learning and good character.”
The organization urges administrators of educational institutions to more proactively and urgently examine the root causes of student behavior that may lead to inhumane behavior and disruption of law and order in schools and communities. I asked him to nip his personality in the bud.
