King links criminal activities in Taraba village to thugs in Benue

The traditional leader of Takum Local Government Council of Taraba State, Sopiya Ahmadu Gbosi III, has alleged that most criminal activities in the council are perpetrated by elements in Katsina-Ala Local Government Council of neighbouring Benue State.

In a statement issued in Haringo on Wednesday, the King referred to recent killings in the area and called on residents in the region to remain calm and avoid acts of retaliation.

He assured the public that government and relevant stakeholders were working aggressively around the clock to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.

“These criminal activities are mainly perpetrated by criminals in neighbouring local governments, particularly Katsina-Ala Local Government Council of Benue State.”

The traditional rulers reiterated their commitment to work with state governments and security agencies to end the violence.

“Security agencies, the government and relevant parties are working hard to uncover the identities of those responsible for the killings and bring them to justice,” he reiterated.

The King stressed the importance of avoiding any form of retaliation and expressed concern over the murders, which he said were part of a malicious plan by some evil individuals.

He called on the government to intensify security operations and deploy more personnel to counter the growing boldness of attackers in Taraba, enjoining residents of Takum and the state as a whole to immediately report any suspicious activities or persons they observe to the authorities for action.

The appeal came following the tragic incident on Monday morning when six passengers travelling along Takum-Wukari road were brutally killed by unidentified gunmen.

As you all know, a traditional ruler and his son were also brutally murdered recently by unknown gunmen within the council who are yet to be arrested.
