The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikom LGA of Cross River State, Matthew Egomo, who was kidnapped along with his son on November 19, is yet to be rescued.
They were abducted along Ikom-Ogoja Road near the Afi River in Nde District, about 15 kilometers from the Ikom Local Government Area Headquarters.
According to sources, the police were able to neutralize the five-member gang that kidnapped the APC chairman.
State Police Command Pro SP Irene Ugbo, who is currently on leave, said she was not aware of the incident but promised to look into it.
Meanwhile, the kidnappers are reported to have received over N50 million from another victim, a nursery school owner who was abducted in the same Ikom local government a few weeks ago.
