The Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Osun State Chapter, has commenced indefinite industrial action with immediate effect.
The strike was declared on Wednesday, November 22, by the chairman of JUSUN in the state, Oluwagbenga Olakunle Eludire.
Eludire said the Chief Judge of Osun, Justice Adepele Ojo, had declared war on the workers, adding that the union would not back down unless answers were provided.
The strike comes hot on the heels of the protest on Monday and Tuesday, November 20 and 21, by Osun JUSUN over allegations of maladministration against the Chief Judge of Osun, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo.
JUSUN members also accused her of unduly harassing some staff members and denying them rights ranging from the reinstatement of training exercises and delays in wardrobe allowances from 2021 to 2023.
In announcing the strike, Eludire stated some of his demands, including that “the regularization and promotion exercise must be carried out without further delay.
“Also other benefits to which JUSUN members are entitled must be effected without further delay.”
Eludire directed all Judiciary employees in the state to stay away from the courts and their offices and withdraw their services.
He said the union protested to the CJ’s office to rule out unresolved issues which include the illegal suspension of some of its members for over 57 months without recourse to the Judicial Service Commission.
