The Jigawa State Government has approved NOK 1.1 billion for emergency procurement of additional food items to ease the financial burden on state civil servants.

This was announced by the Secretary of State for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa, in a briefing with reporters on Monday.

He disclosed that the State Executive Council (SEC) had approved the purchase of food items as part of the government's plan to establish cooperative stores across 27 local governments.

Musa said these stores will provide food and other essentials to civil servants at discounted rates.

Musa further explained that methods have been developed for the establishment and management of these cooperative stores.

“Civil servants will be able to receive their groceries on credit and repay them in installments, reducing the financial burden on households,” Musa said.

He also revealed that the state government has allocated NOK 2.8 billion for this year's Ramadan.
