IYC requests FG to urgently repair east-west road

IJaw Your Council (IYC, Worldwide) has said that roads leading into the Niger Delta region are in poor condition and called on the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently repair the East-West road, especially the river, Bayelsa to Delta section. .

The New Year message was signed by Amb. IYC spokesperson Binebye Yerin Princewill, who was dispatched on Wednesday to the Federal Government, international oil companies, Niger Delta governors and interventionist agencies, said the council did not want their demands to become part of the protests. He said the government should act quickly before the situation develops further.

“Construction of the Udo-Ofuna road also deserves attention. NDDC should prioritize the urgent construction of this project which has great significance for the Aijau people and the people of the Niger Delta.

“That road is the only road that leads to Egbema Kingdom. Egbema Kingdom is one of the Ijaw kingdoms and is a major oil producing kingdom in the Niger Delta that straddles Edo and Delta states. This important road project has been going on for far too long. “The current NDDC has a moral obligation to continue this project.”

“The Ijaw people are determined that the intervention institutions set up to make their lives more meaningful and thus add more value to the development of the region must begin to realistically meet the expectations of the people and the region.

“The intervening agencies such as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Niger Delta Ministry and other relevant agencies need to understand that what we need now is the physical manifestation of the project in our communities. must know.

“There is no excuse for our places to be developed this time. Development in the Niger Delta has been stagnant for too long.”
