Iyabo Ojo Threatens N1bn Legal Action Against Lizzy Anjorin Over Defamatory Video Posts; demand N500m damages

Actress Iyabo Ojo has threatened to file a N1bn case against her colleague, Lizzy Anjorin Lawal, over some defamatory video posts.

Iyabo, through his Instagram page, posted copies of a letter written to Lizzy through his lawyers, Bimpe Ajegbomogun and company.

According to the letter, Lizzy has been posting “vile and denigrating” video content on her page and the videos were directed at Iyabo.

Iyabo’s lawyers said Lizzy, through her comments section, agreed with her followers who said her defamatory posts were directed at Iyabo. The lawyers also said in the letter that Lizzy did not deny the facts that the derogatory content was directed at Iyabo.

Lawyers said Iyabo recently called out Lizzy on Instagram, asking her to mention his name as the person she refers to as “Sepereti” in her defamatory posts. Lawyers said that, surprisingly, Lizzy appeared minutes later and said she would not mention their client’s name but would continue to refer to her as “Sepeteri”. The lawyers argued that Lizzy’s reaction was an open and incontrovertible way of alluding and asserting that she was referring to Iyabo.

The lawyers also claim that Lizzy, through her content, alleged that Iyabo, among other things, was involved in a ménage à trois with her daughter; that Iyabo and his man killed Mohbad; that her man is an ex-convict who was sexually assaulted while in prison; that Iyabo is a prostitute and is dating singer Naira Marley.

The lawyers demanded, among other things, that Lizzy publish an apology in four national newspapers and that she also issue an apology on her Facebook and Instagram pages. The lawyers also demanded that Lizzy pay the sum of N500 million as compensation to Iyabo.

They stated that failure to do so within fourteen days will leave them with no choice but to file a N1 billion lawsuit against Lizzy.
