Insecurity: Nigerian Army launches Operation Golden Dawn 3 in Abia


The Nigerian Army on Wednesday commenced a military exercise dubbed “Operation Golden Dawn III'' to address security concerns in Abia State.

Governor Alex Otti inaugurated the exercise at the 14th Brigade Reinforcement Headquarters in Isuochi in Umneochi local government area of ​​the state.

Represented by Mr. Otti’s Special Assistant on Security, Mr. MacDonald Uba, expressed confidence that the exercise would help flush out criminal elements from every corner of the state.

He further said that further incentives will be provided to the military and other security agencies to further reduce crime and criminality across the state during the Christmas season.

The governor advised officers participating in the exercise to abide by the rules of engagement and code of conduct.

According to him, “This is to avoid actions that may violate the rights of citizens and host communities.

“Let me assure you of our continued support to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in Abia within the limits of available resources to enable them to discharge their constitutional responsibilities.”

In his welcome address, Brigadier General said: The Commander-in-Chief of the 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Nshikaku Edet, explained that Operation Golden Dawn III was one of the exercises launched by the Army in the South East.

He said the exercise was designed to improve the safety of law-abiding residents during the Christmas season.
